Between the World and Me - Resources

The Office of First-Year Experience offers resources that can be used to support your reading of Between the World and Me, or will allow you to further explore some of the themes and topics in the book. 

KU Libraries faculty Tami Albin and Sofia Leung, and staff member Sean Barker, initiated a guide for Social Justice Resources in response to the November 11 town hall forum on race and other intersecting social identities. The guide is a continually developing resource and  includes articles, websites, books, and social media, as well as training and teaching resources and a selection of organizations promoting discourse on diversity, inclusion and social justice at KU. The guide is inspired by educational resources and training materials shared by KU’s Office of Multicultural Affairs.

Resources on this page from the Center for Teaching Excellence are intended to help instructors adopt teaching methods and strategies that enhance inclusivity and respect for diversity in their classes.  It is divided into three main sections – Adopting inclusive teaching methods, creating an inclusive climate, and leading difficult discussions.  You will find many subsections and links within each of those areas.
