Seminars enroll fewer than 20 students, making it easy to meet new people and explore campus as part of a small group

UNIV 101

  • +2-credit hour elective course (all KU degree programs include a certain number of elective hours)

  • +Taught by staff instructors and Graduate Teaching Assistants who are highly knowledgeable about KU

  • +Focus on getting to know KU and planning for your education

  • +Open to incoming freshman and transfer students

First-Year Seminars

  • +3-credit hour courses that satisfy KU Core goal 1.1 (critical thinking)

  • +Taught by faculty from a range of departments and schools

  • +Focus on interesting topics and exciting questions in a discipline

  • +Open to incoming freshman students, offered only in the Fall semester. No prior experience with the seminar topic is required.

UNIV 120

  • +2-credit hour elective course (all KU degree programs include a certain number of elective hours)

  • +Taught by staff instructors and Graduate Teaching Assistants who are highly knowledgeable about KU

  • +Focus on undergraduate research, service learning, global opportunities, and internships

  • +Open to all KU students, offered only in the Spring semester.
