Biography

Meet the Instructor....

Where you know me from…

Program Coordinator for the Peer Academic Coaching Services in KU's Wingspan

What was the most intimidating part of college for you, and how did you overcome it?

The social aspect (people everywhere and navigating relationships) was a challenge for me. So it was easy to keep to myself and focus on my classes, which wasn't a bad thing, but one day I realized that I didn't want it to be like this. So I attended an on-campus organization and met some people. I started to say "yes" to people that invited me to do things. I let myself enjoy things even if it was uncomfortable at first. Honestly, the social aspect of college probably ended up being the biggest part of it for me.

What was the specific moment or book that made you realize, "I want to study this forever"?

Maybe two things. A class on Human Development helped me realize that I love studying people, how we work, and how we relate to each other. And a book about a radical educational society in England that totally wrecked the way I think about education and how we approach it. I think education is important because I think people are important.
