Biography

I have a background in cultural studies and geography, which I use in my role as the First-Year Course Instructor and Coach to create supportive spaces for students to succeed here at KU. In my teaching and research, I value learning from the lived experiences of others and hope to create empathetic spaces of learning in my classrooms. Throughout my own educational experiences, from undergraduate studies here at KU (Rock Chalk Jayhawk!) to my graduate studies, I faced many challenges that could have easily sidelined my success in academics, but through perseverance, I was able to complete my education with a PhD from KU. It is from these challenging lived experiences that I am motivated to help support undergraduate students transcend their own to succeed in earning their degrees.

In my free time, I love to do ceramics, particularly throwing pots on the wheel. You might also find me riding my bike around town, literally around town, on the Lawrence Loop while listening to my latest audiobook.
