Meet the Instructor....
What’s your pro-tip for success at KU?
What you get out of college depends on what you put into it, both in and out of class. So don't wait for things to come to you. Also, I study abroad. It's the ultimate experiential learning experience. You'll find who you are really quickly and gain a new appreciation for where you came from. And don't underestimate the power of sleep and water.
When I was a Freshman…
I had a wonderful time... in class. Except that I got cocky on my first econ midterm, thinking I could cruise through like high school. D-minus! A real "welcome to college" moment. After that, I made sure to learn the material as we went along instead of cramming a bit the night before. Socially, freshman year was a dud. I was way too shy to have much of a freshman experience, and I gained nothing by giving in to the dread.
What is one podcast you never miss an episode of?
New Heights. Two nice brothers being dorks is my cup of tea. And low-key, they're great interviewers.
What is one topic that, if a student mentions it, you will accidentally talk about for 20 minutes?
The Olympics. I'm an Olympics junkie going way back.
